The Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire is a Pacific Northwest tradition that is sure to please the whole family. This year’s event takes place over three weekends in August in the quaint area of Bonney Lake. Visitors can choose to come out August 3-4, 10-11, or 17-18. For each weekend, the Faire is open from10:00am – 7:00pm.

With a cornucopia of fun activities, entertainment, and food and drink options, this faire is a highlight of the summer for many in the Seattle area. If you’re traveling from out of town, here is everything that you need to know to make the most out of your time in the quaint village of Merriwick:

Getting There and Other Logistics

Located at the charming Kelley Farm, the Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire is just off of Highway 167 and Highway 410. The event is easily reachable from the Seattle, Bellevue, and Tacoma metropolitan areas, making it a convenient weekend getaway for many. You can also conveniently fly into any of those cities and make the drive in.

Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the Towne Gate. You can either buy one-day passes or a specially discounted weekend pass. Children ages five and under are free to the event. There are also special rates for families, senior citizens, and students, giving you a bevy of ways to attend.

Finding a Great Place to Stay

Many renaissance revelers prefer to immerse themselves in the entire faire experience by camping. The festival offers both RV and tent camping reservation options priced individually or as a family traveling together. While faire admission is not included in the camping pass, there are special after-hours entertainment options that come with the experience.

Or, you can escape the hustle and bustle of the faire venue and relax at a local hotel. One popular pick for faire goers is the Hyatt Regency Bellevue on Seattle’s East Side. This premium hotel is regarded as one of the best hotels near Bellevue WA, making it the perfect place to relax after a day at the faire. While staying at the Hyatt, you can also enjoy convenient access to downtown Bellevue’s diverse shopping and dining opportunities, literally giving you the best of both worlds.

Activities and Entertainment

There is something for everyone at the Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire. In addition to being able to dress up and immerse yourself in this unique time period, guests can participate in a variety of activities and demonstrations. Sing along with the SeaDogs rugby team, watch a magic show, test out your pirate swashbuckling skills, romp with fairies and princesses, and much more. A myriad of reenactments will take you back to the Renaissance times while the period food and drink offerings will satiate any appetite.

Themed Weekends

New this year, you can choose from three distinctly themed weekends. These unique themes allow you to customize the experience to fit your personal preferences. Here are the three choices for your weekend of olde time escape:

  • August 3rd and 4th – Heroes & Villains: A Cosplay Adventure
  • August 10th and 11th – The Enchanted World of Faeries & Goblins
  • August 17th and 18th – A Pirate’s Plunder: Swashbucklers & Scallywags

Choose one or, better yet, attend all three weekends!
