Bringing Willy Wonka to Life

Have you ever found yourself wondering about the Chocolate Factory from, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? What if you could go there and explore the wonders and bizarreness that lie behind its doors. Well, we were also curious so we did the math and found out how much it would cost to make this dream a reality!

Not surprisingly, this would be no cheap feat. To even keep the lights on at the factory would cost upwards of $2 million a year. And that’s nothing when compared to the costs of the chocolate river. We’re talking about 150,000 gallons of liquid chocolate, which will set you back over $30 million. Check out the infographic below for the estimate if Mr. Wonka wanted to go organic with his chocolate river.

We of course had to include the costs of the Oompa Loompa’s salaries and healthcare. Without them, there’s no chocolate factory! And what’s the chocolate factory without the flying elevator from the last scene of the film? That can’t be cheap! For the rest of the estimates, check out the graphic below. In total, it looks like Mr. Wonka will be looking at a grand total of $224.6 million per year. Do you think it’s worth it?
